CHAPTER 01
It Started With a Bamboo Fishing Rod
Huy started fishing when he was a kid.
His grandfather used to take him out with a bamboo fishing rod.
Nothing fancy. No expensive gear. Just a simple rod, a familiar fishing spot and a lot of waiting.
Sometimes they caught fish. Sometimes they didn't.
Huy still wanted to go again.
As he grew older, fishing became more than something he did with his grandfather.
He started learning about rods, reels, lines, hooks, bait and lures. Then came different fishing techniques. And just as important, he learned to watch the weather, tides, currents and the sea.
Good gear helps.
But it doesn't decide the day.
The weather changes. The current moves. The fish move too.
Sometimes they simply aren't interested.
That's fishing.
CHAPTER 02
From Japan Back to Da Nang
Huy later spent time studying and living in Japan.
When he returned home to Da Nang, he stayed close to the thing he knew best: fishing.
In 2015, he opened Huy Ngoc Fishing Shop in Da Nang.
More than a decade later, Huy still meets all kinds of anglers through the shop.
Some walk in looking for their first fishing rod.
Some need a few things for squid fishing from shore.
Others know exactly what they want and start talking about jigs, popping or big fish before they've even finished saying hello.
Huy likes that.
Fishing became his work, but it never stopped being something he enjoys doing.
And over time, another question started coming up at the shop.
I'm in Da Nang. Where Can I Go Fishing?
Visitors would come in looking for fishing gear and ask Huy where they could actually go fishing in Da Nang.
Some had never tried sea fishing before.
Some were travelling with their wife, husband, kids or parents and wanted a good day on the water.
Others had come to Da Nang specifically hoping to try jigging, popping, trolling, bottom fishing or squid fishing.
So Huy started taking people out.
That eventually became Huyngoc Fishing Tour.
Huyngoc Fishing Tour is a private fishing tour in Da Nang, Vietnam, run by local angler Huy Ngoc. We offer private local boat fishing trips and private yacht fishing experiences for first-time guests, families and experienced anglers.
But the idea is pretty simple.
We don't think everyone needs the same fishing trip.
A first-time angler and someone travelling with a bag full of jigs probably don't want the same day.
Neither does a family with two children and a group coming specifically to look for bigger fish.
So before we go fishing, Huy likes to know a little about you.
Have you fished before?
Who are you coming with?
What would you like to try?
Then we make a plan.
CHAPTER 04
And Then the Sea Has Its Say
A fishing plan is still only a plan.
Once we're out there, the weather, tide, current and fish activity can change things.
We might stay in one area.
We might move.
We might change the bait, depth or the way we're fishing.
That's normal.
And there is one thing Huy won't promise you: a fish.
Some days are busy.
Some days make you work for it.
And sometimes you can spend hours fishing without catching the fish you came for.
That's part of fishing too.
One guest went out with Huy and didn't catch a fish himself. He still went home talking about the good equipment, the food on the boat and the squid and fish Huy caught that day.
Others have gone home with fish, squid — and some pretty good stories.
You never really know what kind of fishing day you're going to get.
And that's part of why people keep fishing.
CHAPTER 05
First Time Fishing? That's Fine.
You don't need years of experience to join a fishing trip in Da Nang with Huy.
We've had people on their first sea fishing trip.
We've had experienced anglers.
Couples.
Fathers and sons.
Families with children.
Guests travelling with their parents.
And people who walked into Huy's fishing shop looking for gear and ended up going fishing with him the next day.
Some want to fish hard.
Some want to fish, eat, talk and enjoy being out on the water.
Both are fine.

CHAPTER 06
Local Boat or Private Yacht?
There isn't only one way to spend a fishing day in Da Nang.
For a simple, local fishing experience, Huyngoc offers private local boat fishing trips for groups of up to 6 guests.
For guests who want more space and comfort, there are also private yacht fishing experiences, including options for groups of up to 9 guests.
That can work especially well when not everyone in your group wants to fish all day.
You can fish.
Someone else can relax.
The family can still spend the day together.
The better choice depends on your group, how you want to fish and what kind of day you want on the water.
CHAPTER 07
More Than the Fish You Bring Back
Of course, catching a good fish makes everyone on the boat happy.
There is a particular moment when someone feels something on the line and suddenly everyone starts paying attention.
But ask people what they remember afterwards and it isn't always the biggest fish.
Sometimes it's the food.
Sometimes it's learning a new rig or technique.
Sometimes it's swimming after fishing.
Sometimes it's watching your kid fish beside you.
Or sitting on a boat with your parents and having nowhere else you need to be for a few hours.
One guest even had a birthday cake prepared for a fishing trip.
Those little things matter too.
Because a fishing trip isn't only about what ends up in the cooler.
“That was a really good day.”
